Thus, each forum arose with different objectives. The concrete results of this summit were a Declaration and Plan of Action, the Digital Local Agenda, in which local authorities committed themselves to sharing digital development in solidarity with other cities and regions in order to progress in achieving inclusive municipalities and cities, and the use of ICTs as tools for development.<\/p>\n<p>In order to carry out these objectives &#8211; to reduce the digital divide and implement local digital agendas as a means to improve the quality of life of citizens of decentralized governments &#8211; the UCLG Committee on the Information Society was created that same year, chaired by the City of Bilbao.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, through the Committee, the aim has been to promote the development of a common vision and dynamic among local governments in favor of an inclusive Information Society that favors the reduction of the digital divide.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row row_height_percent=&#8221;0&#8243;
